Garden Tools

Gardening is becoming an increasingly popular past-time for many Americans. As society becomes more conscious of the importance of quality health foods, the popularity of organic foods and home gardening are also on the rise. The maintenance of a flower garden also remains a popular hobby. Whatever type of garden is desired, quality garden tools are an essential component of a successful home garden. Garden tools are any tool that can be used in the practice of gardening, which is related to the practices of agriculture and horticulture.

Careful planning is needed on the part of the gardener to determine what tools are required for their particular garden to be a success. The home garden tends to be of a smaller scale than an agricultural farm, and therefore primarily requires hand tools, such as shovels, hoes, rakes, and shears. The home gardener will also need other gardening equipment such as watering cans, quality gloves, and kneepads, and may make use of structures, such as trellises to support climbing plants.

Planting tools are an integral part of the home garden. These include such items as flower pots, hoes, hoses for irrigation, seeds of desired plants, flower bulbs, edgers, trowels, and possibly a power tiller for a larger garden.

The gardener may also make use of small mechanical power tools, such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, or weed eaters. There are many quality manufacturers to choose from in the area of garden power tools, including Black & Decker, Snapper, Husqvarna, and Craftsman. Once again, there are many decisions to be made regarding what kind of tool is necessary or desired for the task at hand. For instance, in the case of a lawn mower – would a gas, electric, cordless, riding, or manual push mower best fit the needs of the gardener in question?

Lawn maintenance is a key part of gardening. The health and beauty of the lawn surrounding one's garden can greatly affect the health and beauty of the garden itself. When planning, it is necessary to take into consideration many areas of concern, such as fertilizer, and cutting and removal of grass. Many tools are available to aid in lawn maintenance, such as mowers, sweepers, aerators, string trimmers, rollers, and leaf removal devices such as blowers and vacuums. Lawn maintenance tools are also available from many quality manufacturers such as Toro, Ariens, Husqvarna, John Deere, Lawn Boy, Yard Man, Craftsman, and Snapper.
